Keith Nowak started this petition to Middletown township

We have lived at 171 McClees Road for the last 17 years and in that time the number of cars on McClees Road, and the speed at which they are driving, has increased tremendously. When we first moved here it was rare that a car would be speeding down our road but now it’s nearly constant. At least once a week we are aggressively honked at when turning into or coming out of our driveway by someone who’s going far too fast for this type of residential, rural road. It’s gotten to the point where we can no longer go for runs, or even get our mail, without nearly being hit by speeding cars who show no concern for a pedestrian on the road. We have a 15 month old daughter who loves to go to the park but we no longer feel comfortable even walking along the street to get there. What should be a quiet and peaceful street has become a busy and dangerous thoroughfare.

We’ve called the police department numerous times to file complaints but nothing has been done so we are now going to take the necessary steps to work with the town to reduce the speed limit to 25 mph. Most similar roads in the area (the majority of Cooper Road, Paterson Road, etc.) are 25 mph so there is no reason McClees should have a 40 mph speed limit. I would appreciate your support in this process as a safer, quieter, and more peaceful road will improve our neighborhood for all of us.
