Reduce Speed Limit on ID‑19 / Simplot Blvd for Safety

The Issue

We urge the Idaho Transportation Department to reduce the speed limit on ID-19/Simplot Boulevard from 55 mph to 45 mph, extending just beyond the Simplot plant.

This stretch of road presents significant safety concerns due to frequent turning semi-trucks accessing the Simplot plant and multiple railroad tracks crossing traffic lanes. At the current speed, drivers have limited reaction time, increasing the risk of serious accidents.

Lowering the speed limit to 45 mph would improve reaction time, reduce collision risk, and better reflect the industrial nature of this corridor. We urge prompt review and action to improve safety for all drivers and workers in the area.
