Justin Strait was sentence to 15 years in the Texas Department Of Criminal Justice System. During his process from booking to sentencing, he was diagnosed with Schizophrenia and also has records of mental problems before the crime was committed. He has a father, a mother, a daughter, and a little sister who are effected everyday from his incarceration. Other people that deal with mental problems will be affected as well the justice system doesn’t have a reasonable solution for individuals diagnosed with mental diseases. The governor of Texas has the power to reduce Justin Strait’s sentence or grant clemency. If he does not receive clemency this petition will still shine light on an unjust system that is not fair to these born unfortunate circumstances. If he does receive clemency the Justice System can not just ignore the other many individuals under the same circumstances.
