Cal Poly San Luis Obispo packages most food products in single use packaging. As a result, plastic waste has become a major problem on campus. As a campus with approximately 21,000 undergraduates, we have the potential to reduce an incredible amount of waste. We are current Cal Poly San Luis Obispo students who dine on campus daily. We have witnessed excessive plastic waste specifically from Vista Grande. 

 It is our job as students to take care of our school and our environment for future generations. Something needs to change before our environment is further impacted by the tragedy of pollution. We believe that it is possible to reduce plastic waste on campus, but it will take cooperation from campus coordinators, students, and supporters to make this happen.
