Inmates around the country are serving mandatory life sentences for drug related crimes. Some of these crimes are non-violent crimes and the long term sentences that are given out should be reduced. They aren't a danger to the community we believe they should be given a second chance of life. Because of these federal charges convicts usually unable to recover back to real life which leads them back to prison. The amount of new prisoners being locked up increases the amount of prisoners that are in there already causing it to be overcrowded. Solutions we have are:

 Lower sentences for nonviolent crimes

    Give out a minimum drug sentence or probation for first time drug offenders

Offer a rehab system in prison

   Help people who have drug addictions instead of imprisoning them in an endless cycle

Expand drug courts throughout the country
