Thiana Aklikokou started this petition to Redlands high school

Redlands High School has a sector titled Student Government, more colloquially known as ASB, the Associated Student Body. On our campus, these two units are one and the same, though officially Student Government is the elected group that represents the student body, which is every student on our campus. Unfortunately, the StuGo does not have Stu or Go, as the Students are not elected by the student body, but rather accepted into the program by the advisors. This means the people that are supposed to represent our wishes aren't an accurate representation of our student body. Furthermore, as of the 2021-2022 school year, the Student Government does not have cabinet positions to even vote on.

For Student Government to be truly democratic, it should be wholly decided by the students, and be made up of students that meet outlined requirements, as any government requires. This will go to help address problems regarding lack of student voice on our campus such as the issue of fully navy gowns (see the sister petition on that for more information).

It's time students have an actual voice and say in what takes place on our campus, and the best way to do that is to have a space, undiluted by teacher opinion's of what students should want or enact. This is the only way to ensure that Redlands High School's campus is a true reflection of the amazing students it's comprised of.
