S Srinivas started this petition to Reddit and

Reddit has a subreddit (r/india) claiming to be the "official subreddit of India" and yet the moderators of r/india ban anyone who they don't like.

Say you like your country - banned.

You like that India is progressing - banned.

You support a political party that the moderators don't like - banned.

The subreddit r/india has 500,000+ subscribers. Many Indians who join Reddit will search the term "india" and join the subreddit. There is another subreddit r/indiaspeaks which has 150,000+ subscribers. No one will search the term "indiaspeaks" to join the subreddit. It got 150,000+ subscribers just by passing the word among banned users. There are a lot more users who got banned by r/india and still don't know about r/indiaspeaks. r/india banned more than 30% of its subscribers. Reddit can confirm this by checking the statistics of how many users did the moderators of r/india ban. There is no world where 150,000+ users are wrong and 10 moderators are right.

Dear Reddit, If you care about Free Speech, then either replace each and every moderator of r/india with neutral unbiased moderators, or rename the subreddit to some other name since they clearly can't be "the official subreddit of India".

I hereby also appeal to Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad (Minister of Information Technology) to take action against Reddit in case of their non compliance for ensuring free speech.
