Why this petition matters

To whom it may concern,

We the undersigned request a review of the current No Smoking policy in the pitched undercover area of the Golden Grove Wet Mess.

Western Australian law states:

"In WA it is illegal to smoke:

in outdoor eating areas, unless in a designated smoking area in a liquor licensed premises" - (https://ww2.health.wa.gov.au/Articles/J_M/Laws-on-smoking#:~:text=In%20WA%2C%20it%20is%20illegal,the%20flags%20at%20patrolled%20beaches

The distance from any door or access into the Wet Mess is greater than 20m (minimum requirement of 5m) and the area is not closed on any side (3 sides must be open) and is well ventilated. There is ample unaffected seating should the smoking area be reinstated that will not effect those opposed.

The pitched roof undercover area was purpose built to supply a covered designated smoking area. Removing smokers from the flat roofed area to meet smoking restriction requirements.

During this inclement weather, it has become apparent the new smoking rules are excessive and restrict the human rights - being more stringent than WA law requirements.

Smokers and friends of those, request review and ask for consideration of even a section of the pitched roof area be redesignated as smoking area at a licensed premise please.

Kind regards

Staff, Contractors & Friends of Golden Grove Mine Site Yalgoo undersigned.
