My family has been using Dettol Antiseptic liquid for as far as I can remember!
Previously it used to come in glass bottle, with a metal cap, could have been stainless steel:
Dettol- Glass bottle with steel cap

But now it comes in a plastic/PET bottle:
Dettol- Plastic/PET packaging

They probably changed it because companies like Savlon use plastic bottle only:
Savlon- Plastic Bottle

One of the reasons people started buying Savlon instead of Dettol, despite using it for years, was that Savlon bottle weighs less! So I get why Dettol started using plastic bottle too.

But the plastic/PET used in making those bottles is not bio-degradable!
Plastic in 10 and 100 years

Some may argue that even glass is not!
Ever wondered why do shopkeepers ask the "Banta" Soda (glass) bottles back?
Banta Soda
They send them back for the recycling in exchange for some money!
Maybe they can start doing the same process for the antiseptic liquid bottles too!

You can go through this Glass vs Plastic to understand why Glass is better than Plastic for the environment,

Hence, we'd like Dettol to go back to previous packaging!
Not just Dettol, Earth would like Savlon, Ciphands and others to start using glass bottles too.

One more solution could be using recycled plastic bottles, which Dettol is already doing with "Dettol Black", a liquid handwash in 100% recycled bottle:
