Jeff Bauknight continues to attack our first amendment rights with his on-going attempts to remove materials from the Victoria Public Library. He threatens to cut funding to the library if they do not comply with his demands. This is corruption and a gross overreach of his powers. As an elected official, Mr. Bauknight has a duty to remove all bias from his political dealings, and his desire to remove these library books is clearly rooted in religious extremism. This represents an attack on the human rights of LGBTQ+ people in our community, and he should be removed from office pending the results of a recall election.
