Rebuild our School Destroyed by Fire - Rural Schools Vital to Families & local economies
Why this petition matters
On Friday, August 26, 2022 Stewart Valley, SK lost its school & community centre to fire. This is a devastating blow to those who live in the Village, the RM of Saskatchewan Landing & beyond. Stewart Valley School & Community Centre is more than a budget line on the School Divisions books. We are a diverse community, some with children & some without, who are caught in a political mess because of a tragedy out of our control. It is in the best interests of our children, our Families and our Community to have Stewart Valley School & Community Centre rebuilt without delay. We are seeking your help & support.
We have Families from Swift Current & surrounding areas who bring their children to our daycare. We have families who have said they would welcome the opportunity to have their Children attend Stewart Valley school, children who are currently in schools where enrolments are so high their children get lost in the shuffle. This could be an opportunity for our School Division & the Ministry of Education to build a school that would offer another choice to Families. The highway runs both ways, it would be no more costly to bus children to Stewart Valley than from Stewart Valley. We would welcome the expansion of our school community to include other families who prefer smaller classes & more teacher one on one teacher time.
Rural Schools are vital to the Communities in which they are built. We need our school rebuilt, our children & our local economy depend on it.
Please help us make it clear how important Rural Schools are to our Communities! Please help us make it clear to the Provincial Government, Ministery of Education & Local School Board that NOT rebuilding our School & Community Centre is NOT an option.
Thank you for your support!
