Reasons explaining the Sefako Makgatho Chemistry Honours high failure rate:

•  The scope for exam was too large. No explicit scope was given.
• Some of the questions in the exam were not dealt with in class even if they were part of the syllabus. Complete unfamiliarity with the questions made it difficult to answer the questions with the knowledge and practice we have accumulated.
• The strictness of the marking makes it impossible to get high marks.
• The inferior background of mathematics makes understanding of the module itself hard.
