Diane McMahon started this petition to WSFCS Administration Dr. Lionel Kato and

The Reagan High School Senior Class of 2020 comes to you with this petition to change the current plan for a "virtual" graduation ceremony. It has come to our attention that this current plan was recommended and decided in mid-April by WSFCS district administration. We disagree with this decision and propose that we honor our Senior class with an in-person, face to face ceremony at the school’s athletic stadium exercising appropriate social distancing rules and abiding by COVID 19 re-entry guidelines per Phase Three rule for number of people allowed to gather safely. We are proposing a rescheduled date for mid-July.

When Seniors found out that schools were closing on Sunday, March 15, they had absolutely no idea that Friday, March 13, was their last day at school and they are not okay. They are sad, disappointed, heartbroken and have lost hope that their dream of graduating with their friends and classmates will not happen. We must restore that hope.

A high school graduation is a "lifetime milestone" and the last big event to culminate their high school experience and achievements with their peers. Many of them will continue their education in college and some will enter the workforce, the military, and trade schools. Everything our Seniors look forward to in the last semester of their senior year has been taken away; therefore, we must allow them to cross the finish line together as a class, united one last time.

By signing this petition, you are supporting the change from a "virtual" graduation ceremony to an in person, face to face graduation ceremony, date TBD.

Thank you, and No Raider Rides Alone!

Together we can try to make a change, for our Seniors.
