This is part of Reading's history. It would be a terrible shame to destroy them.

Whilst I appreciate the need for affordable housing I do not think high rise blocks are the answer. Every town I know with a substantial number of high rise blocks do not present a friendly and welcoming feel and Reading should recognise this.

There's been a lot of newbuilds in RG and that has taken a lot out of the character of Reading. Let's preserve what's left, otherwise we'll just turn into another soulless satellite of London.

Too much of Readings heritage is being torn down. Appalling.
Everywhere you look in Reading, blocks of flats are being built. Who on earth is buying them ? They sure are not the social housing that Reading needs ..

The site of Drews and the offices is part of the Victorian heritage of this part of Reading. This era of the town's history is significant and should be preserved. The proposed plan for redevelopment of the site is completely out of scale with the surrounding area. I am proud of the heritage of my town and feel that it should be one of our strengths, not the subject of needless replacement.

As a historian, I know the value of preserving buildings such as this. There's no reason why the council couldn't do an internal conversion to provide residential units, although I can think of better uses for the building. Certainly, replacing it with a 7-storey building is utterly inappropriate for the area and would destroy it's character.
