Petitioning Reading Borough Council

Do not close South Street Arts Centre

Reading Borough Council has discussed closing South Street Arts Centre as part of £7.24 million worth of cuts to the spending budget.

South Street is one of Reading's most valuable and significant venues. It puts on a brave and challenging programme of theatre, comedy, music and performance art - attracting some of the UK's best creative talent and touring companies to Reading.

It's closure would a huge loss to Reading's arts community. Its programme would not be possible in other venues such as the 3Bs Bar or the Town Hall.

In the current climate, local councils across the country are having to make tough cuts to local services but the loss of South Street would be a massive blow to the town. We call on Reading Borough Council to not close South Street Arts Centre.

This campaign also hopes to highlight of the value of arts centres like South Street and encourages people to use them to them to ensure their survival.  Share your love for #SouthStreet
