We are petitioning the National LGBTQ Task Force to change the date of their important and historic event, Queering Racial Justice, to a date where the B in LGBT in not celebrating our global holiday of visibility, Celebrate Bisexuality Day (held every year on 9/23 since 1998).
Racial justice is an incredibly important topic for the bisexual community, with many of our community more at risk for discrimination and harassment than our lesbian, gay and/or non bi+ trans peers.
Bisexual advocates directly requested the date of the event be changed, but despite the uneven history of the The National LGBTQ Task Force supporting and representing bi, pan, fluid, queer (bi+) people, nothing has happened yet.
Personally, this is not how #biweek should begin but it seems as if The National LGBTQ Task Force would like to make history once again with their overt biphobia. Let's help them, help us, by having them change the date so more bi people can attend this event and so the need visibility to very invisible bi people doesn't compete for the incredibly needed work in the LGBTQIA community surrounding intersectionality and racial justice.
