In a cost of living crisis, my property valuation on my council rates notice has been increased by 12.3% from last year - even though property prices are falling.

Moonee Valley City Council, I will pay your inflated council rates, however I ask for one simple thing in return; re-name Niddrie as Essendon West.

Niddrie is situated directly north of Essendon West, and directly west of Essendon. It just makes sense to be part of Essendon West.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics seems to agree with this contention, as it groups Niddrie and Essendon West together as area code 210011230.

Instead, Niddrie shares a postcode with Airport West, which is separated from Niddrie by the Calder Freeway, and Keilor Park, which is separated from Niddrie by both the Calder Freeway and Western Ring Road.

Not only is it illogical for Niddrie to not be in the 3040 postcode, during June 2020 Niddrie residents were forced into early lockdown due to the common postcode with Keilor Park. Should Niddrie have shared the 3040 postcode, this would not have occurred.

Please encourage all Niddrie residents and other interested parties to sign this petition.
