To save money for K-12 education the city school district cut more than $2 million form the OACES program. As a result, 7 adult vocational programs were cut which could serve up to 560 people. These programs have a 70% success rate in placing the student in a job at graduation. These people are residents of the city many of whom have been failed by our education system and presently live in poverty. They are parents of children in the district and the jobs they get after this program are living wage jobs which change their lives and that of their children. This program can be saved for $1.3 million and we the undersigned ask the Rochester School Board Commissioners to restore this program so classes can resume in September.
