The residents of Blackstone Country Club are in strong support of the preferred route indicated in blue on the map which uses the existing transmission corridor. We strongly oppose the route alternative C indicated in red on the map.
We strongly oppose route alternative C because it is at least $50 million more to install, impacts a brand new area which never expected to have power lines and will impact the current communities deeply. A homeowner on alternative C could have never predicted a transmission corridor going in and many specifically bought in these communities to avoid living near the existing transmission corridor.
We are in strong support of the preferred route because it is the most cost effective option and it uses the existing corridor. Residents along this corridor knowingly purchased their homes with power lines as part of their community and thus agreed to this during their time of purchase. The existing corridor has been around since the 1960's and so there was plenty of information to notify communities and residences of this transmission corridor. The preferred route has already been approved by the City of Parker, which shows that the residents and City of Parker support this route as well.
Getting this corridor finished in a timely manner is important to the power supply of all our communities. We urge the City of Aurora to join Parker in approving the preferred route which uses the existing transmission corridor. The other route is unacceptable to us as residents and will be unacceptable to the PUC due to significant costs. Thank you.
