We, the undersigned, respectively request the HyVee Corporation require their stores to relocate all the publications produced by the American Media Inc. {AMI} from the check-out lanes to the magazine section of the store.

We are petitioning this action because of the ongoing investigation by the Southern District of New York into their slanted coverage of past political campaigns, and because the front page is not the material that we wish our children to be exposed to while waiting in line to check out.  The National Enquirer is a well known slander sheet.  During the last presidential race, they ran 35 negative covers about the Democratic candidate claiming everything from a serious of strokes, months to live, to a teen sex ring.  During the Republican primary, a candidate's father was accused of being involved in the assassination of John Kennedy.  Whether or not someone buys the rag, they still see it every week in the check out line at the grocery store.

We have always admired the corporate support of family, schools and the community.  We believe this action would complement the stated mission of HyVee to “care about the things our customers care about – health care, education, the arts, leisure and recreation, the environment, economic opportunity, civic improvement….”   We believe the HyVee corporation supports factual and unbiased reporting.

HyVee has stores in seven states, and is a well known and respected corporate partner.  Their support of schools and non profit groups is excellent.  We would like to have the Enquirer relocated from the check out line to the magazine section and replace them with more family friendly publications.  Thank you for your consideration.
