Hello, My name is sydney bauer and i'm am a 8th grade student at north oldham middle school. I've noticed lately that a large portion of the students are very unhappy with the amount of time (25 minutes) we have for lunch. I've also noticed many students throwing large amounts of food away because they aren't able to take food back to class due to food allergies. Not only that but lots of students aren't getting enough food to eat which results in them being hungry which drastically impacts their learning environment. Not only do i think that having longer lunches would raise a large portion of the students grades but i also believe it would help with our school ptsa. (parent teacher association) This would help with our school ptsa because it would raise the amount of money collected in the cafeteria. The 8th grade students go to lunch at 11:00-11:25 or 11:30-11:55, its takes us about 3 minuites to walk to lunch and about 5 miniutes to buy our lunches and find a seat, which only leaves us with about 17 minuites to eat our lunch. it takes most students about 15 miniutes to eat one serving size of lunch and since we aren't allowed to go to our cafeterias snackshack (a place to buy things like chips, gummies, etc) with less than 5 minuites left in the lunch it is leaving many children hungry and causing the cafeteria to make less money. However i feel as though if we were to increase the amount of time we have to eat lunch then the students would be able to buys more snacks resulting in more money for our ptsa that will make funding for assembly's,technology and etc way easier. Please consider helping all of the students at north oldham by signing this petition, and thank you for your time.
