Announce holidays for teachers and non teaching staff to combat corona threat

On 16th March 2020, the Health and Family Welfare Ministry issued an advisory calling for the closure of all educational establishments (schools, universities etc), gyms, museums, cultural and social centres, swimming pools and theatres till 31st March. It was asked to announce holidays for students only. As a teacher, I’m happy that all students are safe. They have been advised to stay at home and attend e-classes via online . This will significantly minimise their exposure and chances of being infected.

But what about the teachers and other staff. Why are educational institutions asking their teachers and staff to come to work? They are as prone to COVID-19 as students are. By asking them to commute (most of us take public transport) and work in the staff rooms, where they encounter many more individuals - they are being put at risk. Their health and well-being matters too. Please Sign my petition.

This is why I am asking the Health Ministry and the Human Resource Development Ministry (MHRD) to issue a directive asking all educational institutions (schools and colleges) to be closed till March 31, 2020 for teachers and other staff as well.

I believe that teachers should also practice social distancing and not be required to come to work during this pandemic. Sign my petition!

There is an urgent need to make sure that teachers are not being put at risk and can adhere to all the safety guidelines and practice social distance.
teachers, especially from public institutions are being asked to show up everyday. Sign my petition so that we teachers and non-teaching staff too can contribute to efforts to curb the virus from spreading across the country.

As responsible citizens, we need to act now. Sign my petition asking the MoHFW and MHRD to immediately issue a directive asking all educational institutions (schools and colleges) to be closed till March 31, 2020 for teachers and other staff as well.
