Advocates call for QUICK ACTION in Criminal Justice Reform bringing Parole back to Virginia in its ENTIRETY. On January 1, 1995, Virginia abolished Parole for the vast majority of offenders. Under the Truth in Sentencing Guidelines offenders are required to serve 85% of their time. This action has added to mass incarceration. We want Governor Northam to return the Parole guidelines to where they were before 1995, requiring inmates to serve 65% of their time and bring back Discretionary Parole.
