Whitney Rucker started this petition to Governor Ralph S. Northam

COVID-19 regulations in Virginia allow school student athletics such as wrestling, basketball, cheerleading, and volleyball to take place indoors at sports venues without masks or distancing.  I personally have seen many photos and videos of local high school athletes participating in their sports without masks or distancing even before the most recent executive order was published.

Meanwhile, COVID-19 regulations in Virginia state that dancers, singers, and other performers in performing arts venues such as theatres must stay 10 feet apart and masked at all times. Dancing is described as a physical activity just as wrestling and basketball are.  It is completely unfair that school student athletes can participate in their sports at indoor venues without restrictions, but student athletes/performers not associated with a school, such as dancers, must adhere to much stricter regulations when in performing arts venues.

We simply want all student dancers to have the same opportunities as students participating in school sports.  If you believe that student dancers should be treated equally to school student athletes, please sign this petition.
