January 29th a bill that will raise the tobacco and nicotine vaping products age requirements to 21 was passed in order to prevent minors from getting their hands on these "harmful" products, I am here to say that this will not create a solution but only make matters worse. It's already been done with alcohol, minors still get their hands on it and it will be the same with tobacco and nicotine products, it will only increase more people to get in trouble. I have been a proud vaper for the past 2 years and there are several others that are too. When people reach the age of 18 they have the responsibility and have the choice to use tobacco or nicotine products, America is a place of freedom, rights and choice, taking away rights of current smokers and vapers will only create tensions between the people and government, not to mention teenagers and parents. It's true, minors get their hands on the products that we have the right to use, flavored juul pods are already gone, it didn't solve anything, now raising the age requirement is not going to solve anything one bit, but I believe there is nothing wrong, minors who use these products are already aware of the dangers of nicotine and tobacco and they chose to use it, it's their alcohol, but if you want to make a better difference then the only thing that should be changing is what is learnt in school, when I was in school I only learned 2 things about tobacco and nicotine, it's addictive and it causes cancer, but if the school system gave in more effort to describe it in depth, I'm sure minors would understand more. Another thing is minors think they are "cool" with doing this stuff and it gets them more followers or friends on social medias, I picked up my little sister from middle school once and she told me she saw two of her classmates juuling in front of other kids and it somehow made them look "cool". If you want to take action take it to the school system, not our rights.
