Why this petition matters

Started by JAHI DOLL

We the family of the petitioner, ask you to sign this petition in support of the decision that Jahi Doll, be granted Executive Clemency by the state of Virginia Governor Ralph Northam. We are seeking Clemency by way of a commutation for Jahi. He has served twenty years (20) in prison, which is more than half his minimum prison term. This is his first offense, which also happens to be a non-homicide conviction. We believe Jahi should be granted clemency because he has used his time productively and responsibly to rehabilitate himself and pro actively advance himself in positive ways. Jahi has completed all required programs recommended by the State of Virginia Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. We believe Jahi should be granted clemency because of the development and rehabilitative steps he's taken to prove that change is possible. He has obtained several vocational trades, so much so, that the DOC will not allow him to take anymore. He then decided to take up Culinary Art, working in the kitchen so that he could pay for his Associates Degree in Sports Health & Fitness. Ensuring that he has another career option upon his release. Jahi has utilized his time behind bars by maintaining steady employment throughout various opportunities has worked in the facility Messhall, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic being one of over 250 ex-offender who fell victim this terrible disease, preparing general population meals, kosher meals for the Jewish population, keep lock meals for the inmates serving sanctions for disciplinary tickets and cleaning and sanitizing all equipment used.

Not only has he made extensive improvement to himself and his thinking, but he has worked tirelessly to help others see that change is possible when you're dedicated towards your rehabilitation. Simply stated, he is no longer the child he was at 15 years old when he was sentenced to over 32 years in prison. He has accepted responsibility for his actions and taken the necessary steps to rehabilitate himself. Jahi has learned from his mistake and deserves a fair and thorough consideration for clemency.

We ask that you please sign this petition in support of the decision to grant Jahi Clemency and allow him to be released as soon as possible. We are asking for a fair and careful review of his entire clemency proposal, case file and institutional record. The idea of Jahi having to serve yet another 8 years in prison seems like a gross injustice, not only to Jahi and our family, but also to the taxpayers of the state of Virginia. Please allow Jahi the opportunity to put all his great self work and betterment to use, gain his freedom, reenter society and become the productive and successful citizen he has prepared himself to be.

Thank You for your support,

The Family of Jahi Doll
