Dear Hon Prime Minister and Hon Defence Minister Sirs,

With effect from February this year, toll booths along Highways all across the country have started insisting on ex-servicemen paying the toll fee sighting a letter from the Govt of India Min of Road Transport and Highways, No.H-24030/32/2014 - (Toll) dated 17 June 2014 purportedly signed by Shri NK Sharma, Director (Toll).

Sir, the ex-servicemen of the Armed Forces have given the prime of their lives defending the Sovereignty of our country, have been at the forefront of saving lives of fellow Indians during all natural calamities. You have extolled the services of the valiant men/ women serving in our Armed Forces on several  occasions.

After their service to the nation, as ex-Servicemen, they strive to motivate and role model the exemplary standards of discipline, patriotism and service to the nation through their conduct in whatever role they play in society. 

Am sure that the nation will not be poorer by at least extending them the privilege of being able to travel across the country without having to pay Toll Fees at every toll booth on various highways and roads. 

Through this decision of the Govt of India, the Ex-Servicemen are being deprived of even being allowed to travel by road in their own vehicles free of Toll Fees.

Trust that this issue will receive your consideration and the Ex-Servicemen of the Indian Armed Forces (Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force) will be extended Exemption of paying Toll Fees on various Toll Booths on National/ State Highways and Expressways.
