Demanding Equal Pay for Cane's #272

Demanding Equal Pay for Cane's #272
Why this petition matters
Dear Raising Cane's Crew and Managers,
In the past months of the pandemic, there has been an increasing number of new hires. Recently, employees who were working months before Covid-19 have discovered that these new hires are getting paid a starting rate of $13.90, while they are still getting paid $13.45, with the majority of them earning it through an incremental process. There are crew members who have been at Cane's for over a year, some have been cross-trained, and some who are Certified trainers, all of whom are getting paid less than new hires. These employees have worked/ are working through many labor-intensive days which require fast-paced skills, working well under pressure, and assisting all the new hires during the entirety of their shifts.
When the pandemic hit, no hazard pay or bonuses were given during this time of great difficulty and danger. Crew members that were present before COVID hit are the hardest working people at Cane’s. We are the ones with experience, we keep Cane’s running. We, alongside our managers, have been working tirelessly through these times, but our efforts to keep Cane’s running as smoothly as possible during this time are not being recognized. Instead, we are being underpaid.
For this, we are demanding a change in our pay. Every day we are going to work and risking exposure to a virus, putting not only ourselves but our families in danger. Our pay does not reflect the efforts, sacrifices, and labor we put into a day’s work. We demand an increase in pay.
To Crew members: We all know how much work is put in during every shift. We know how demanding this job can be, and for this, we need to be united in demanding an increase in our pay.
To Cane's Managers: We hope you hear our voices and understand where we are coming from. You see the work we do and how difficult it can be. This job is not easy for everyone, but for an employee with months of experience to be making less than a new hire is unjust and unreasonable.
