MTSU Farm Labs currently pay its student workers minimum wage ($7.25). The farm labs include a dairy farm, beef farm, swine farm, crops unit, and creamery. Only MTSU students work on these farms and minimum wage is not enough to afford basic necessities. The students work mainly outdoors, in extreme weather, tending to the animals and the grounds. We love what we do but most of us struggle with bills and have to have second jobs to afford costs of living.
