It's ludicrous that we apply the same 110km/h speed limit to six lane highways as we do to single carriageway pock marked country roads with unmade edges.

I agree that Australia's speed limits are ridiculous - the emphasis needs to shift to better equip drivers to make the correct decisions and drive to the conditions. Sometimes this is slower than the posted limit; often it is faster.

As a regular traveller on the Hume from Shepparton to Melbourne, I have experienced the dangers of the fatigue associated with a prolonged journey due to low speed limits.

Have driven the NT 130 and open limits, as well as the Autobahns in Germany without seeing any resulting carnage. No bodies or car wrecks strewn over highways. 130 is a much safer speed for the long distances we drive in Australia.

I travel a lot, and it would be very useful for me to be able to travel at speeds that I feel safe driving versus an arbitrarily low speed limit set by the state lawmakers under all sorts of pressure from so called safety advocates

An increase to 130km/h is sensible as driving faster in my experience reduces driver fatigue.

speed limits we drive by were written for the cars of yesteryear, the limit law is bullshit, .05, teenagers yes, adults it is a bloody joke
