Raise the Alberta Public Service mileage reimbursement rate

Raise the Alberta Public Service mileage reimbursement rate
Why this petition matters
According to the Canadian Automobile Association, average gasoline prices in Alberta have increased by 49% in the last year. Auto insurance premiums also rose nearly 15% year over year from 2019 to 2020.
Despite these increased costs, the Alberta Public Service Mileage Reimbursement Rate has remained unchanged for a decade, and the increased cost of doing government business is falling on workers.
Alberta Public Service workers who are required to use their vehicles for their employment are demanding an increase to the per kilometre reimbursement rate from .505 cents per KM to .61 cents per KM to match the Government of Canada's public service reimbursement rate.
The costs of providing essential services to Albertan's on behalf of the Alberta Government should not be subsidized by the workers of the Public Service.
As a member of AUPE Local 006, or another AUPE Local, I stand in solidarity, and demand the Government of Alberta increase these rates, effective immediately.
(AUPE Local 006 members include but are not limited to workers who monitor the safety of children at risk or abuse or neglect in their homes, day care inspections, foster home licensing, and services to families of children and persons living with disabilities)
