Students are working hard to earn paychecks that don’t cover basic needs like textbooks, parking passes, and art supplies. The $12 per hour wage is also cause a loss of interest in being a student worker for ISU and causing students to seek jobs with outside sources that pay more. This pay difference and lack of student interest directly affects the productivity of places that are mainly staffed by students like the dining halls. There are many departments that are understaffed making it impossible to find staff to cover shifts to allow for necessary breaks to study for exams or do homework.
