Approximately 1/3 of women experience sexual or physical violence throughout their lifetime. That's far too many.

Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is violence directed towards an individual based on their gender. This form of violence may be sexual, physical, verbal, psychological or socio-economic and appears in many different forms. Stalking, abuse, sexual abuse, sexual harassment, the list goes on.

But Gender-Based Violence isn't always so explicit. One of the most common forms of GBV is Intimate Partner Violence (IPV), which is domestic violence perpetrated by an intimate partner. In Canada, statistics from 2018 show that 44% of women have experienced IPV in the lifetime, some of the youngest experiencing it at age 15.
