It is no secret that we are in the midst of a pandemic; COVID-19 is very real. We do not want to nor are we taking away from the severity of this illness. We would simply like to request that all of the schools in Rainier open for in person learning to all students without further hesitation. Realizing that some families will not feel comfortable with their students attending we are not asking that it be mandatory, only that it be allowed for those who feel their students should be in the classroom.
There have been safety protocols in place for months now. We feel that the Rainier Schools admin have the knowledge and ability to keep these protocols in place. Our children should have the right to attend school. People have been going to large malls, grocery stores, large gatherings, the list goes on. Our community/county has been upgraded to phase two of the reopening plan which means we can now dine inside, go to the gym, attend a movie.... if all of this is ok why not make school a priority? The mental and emotional toll this is having on our children is unacceptable. Their education as well as social/emotional well-being is something that should be taken seriously. Please OPEN ALL RAINIER SCHOOLS FOR IN PERSON LEARNING.
