On June 2nd, 2011 almost 17 year old Carly Jean Lewis took her last breaths in an abandoned building (723 Beitner St) in Traverse City, Michigan. She was stabbed to death by Jensen Schwander, who is now in prison for a minimum of 40 years. (more info: http://www.upnorthlive.com/news/story.aspx?id=634372#.T3PD6NXVvDc
Nearly a year later, the building still stands and is not only an eyesore, but also a painful reminder of the devastating loss suffered that day.
As the anniversary of her death and her birthday (June 15th) approaches, we would like to get this old hut taken down for good. It is not in use and serves no positive purpose. We would like to possibly have it replaced with a memorial of some kind, such as a rose garden or park.
It is incredibly difficult for Carly's family and friends to drive by the hut everyday and be forced to imagine the gruesome events of that day. Put this horrible memory to rest along with the building by signing this petition for the City of Traverse City and the owner of the property, Paulos Land company.

The citizens of Traverse City have come together since the day Carly went missing, and we won't stop until we make as much peace of the situation as we can. Thank you all for your support♥
