The city health department has issued Mollison Elementary a failing grade, the second one in two months to this school on Chicago's Southside. Parents and Taxpayers were assured the school would be cleaned during the Thanksgiving break.

Local School Council members, the alderman, and a city health inspector in the most recent tour on November 27, 2017 still found mouse droppings in multiple areas around the school, including a closet in the gym that had clearly not been cleaned and mouse droppings in the principal's office next to a chewed-through bag of rodent poison.

It was so bad, the city health inspector issued the school a failing grade, finding hundreds of mouse droppings in closets, washrooms, the library and in a kindergarten classroom. Chicago Public Schools broke its promise to our children and our community.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel continues to lead an administration, including Chicago Public Schools (CEO Forest Claypool) that neglects Chicago's Southside schools and African-American residents, specifically. The Mayor should ensure the leadership that he has appointed cares about the safety of ALL children.
