DDT or dichloro-diphenyl-trichloroethane is a colorless, odorless compound that is extensively used in modern synthetic pesticides and often used as insecticides in third world countries, including India. However, India still persists on its agricultural use despite the carcinogenic health hazard it causes to the masses that consume this food as well as Animals that graze the fields.

Because it has more side effects than advantages, it should be banned in India as it was in other countries by a ruling of Stockholm's Convention of Persistent Organic Pollutants.
