Why this petition matters

Started by Lloyd D'Aguilar

A male student at Central High School will not be able to return to face to face classes because he is wearing locks. His father is a Rastafarian.

The principal feels quite confident in taking this racist decision because the Andrew Holness government through its then Attorney General, Marlene Malahoo Forte, defended another school where the same racist demand was imposed on another student because locks carry "lice and junjo".  The government won the case setting an important legal precedent about racism.

Holness did not say a damn thing about this form of racism and it is happening again.

We therefore demand that there be IMMEDIATE instruction from the Ministry of Education to ALL schools that locks and any form of Hair Style is  no business of the school. It is the human and legal right of the child and the parent.

RACISM Will NOT Be tolerated. OUR white colonial Master is no longer in charge. This is a Black country and Blackness must be respected.
