As students, one of our main needs is human social interaction. Although virtual meetings will allow for teachers to check in on students, it is a huge strain on teachers, so we need to listen to their voices too. Less work will give students the breather they need!
Most of us spend upwards of 5-6 hours a day on work... CONSTANTLY playing catch-up. And lastly, having shorter school days will allow us to be playing a lot less catch up, and make students more motivated to participate.
The current system we have needs to change, students are invariably doing work... which comes at the expense of them. I know myself, I am burnt out and feel like I cannot do any more work, and I’m NOT the only one. If this doesn’t change we could risk the health of Quincy public school’s students.
