Over the past decade, there have been several accidents that have been occurring near 36th and Broadway, near the Aldi/Burger King turn out. In fact, an accident that occurred two weeks ago in that exact location, resulted to be fatal. One of the drivers Nathaniel Gilbert(19) succumbed to injuries which resulted in his death a couple evenings later. This collision occurred between two vehicles as both were turning south bound, from private drives directly across from each other (Old-Kmart & Aldi/Burger King stop signs). Both turning south onto 36th street around the same time. Unfortunately, this isn’t the only accident that happened in front of the Burger King & Auto Zone area that resulted in a death. In 2011, a fatal crash occurred between three vehicles, two of which were pulling out of the private drives listed above.

In 2019 KHQA reported that “Quincy Police name 36th & Broadway most accident prone location” and that “pulling out of private drives” was deemed to be one of the top three causes of the collisions. Something must change before another life is lost.

To take action, I believe it is most beneficial to have a median on 36th street in front of the Old-Kmart & Aldi/Burger King 2-way stops. I understand that this is an inconvenience, however I feel it is a necessary addition to keep people safe. Please take your time and consider this change so that a life can be saved.
