Sadly on Australia Day 26/01/2021 Kate, Matty and their unborn child were killed by an alleged drugged driver while walking their dogs. The driver had stolen a Landcruiser 4 wheel drive earlier that afternoon and was causing havoc and road rage in the Alexandra Hills Community before allegedly killing this young family.

My only child Hayley Russell 20 was killed by a drink driver in Alexandra Hills on the 16/05/2009. This driver was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison and was eligible for parole after 18mths. 6 years later after Dylan John Campbell's parole ended he was again on over 50 new charges of driving offences and other criminal activities. I believe that if the court system made Campbell do all 7.5 years he would have been off the road and not a danger to the community. Drugged and drunk drivers are going to kill again it is not if, it is when. 

I believe that if our Youth Justice Act is reformed with longer penalties for re-offenders, and time in prison is longer with no parole given, it will make a big difference to the decisions these killers make on our roads. It would have made our communities safer for people like Hayley, Kate, Matty and their unborn child.

We will never see our loved ones that have lost their lives to these killers on our roads. We will never have grandchildren and never see them again.
