Judy Shepherd started this petition to Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has revealed that her cabinet has approved the decision to bid for the 2023 Olympic Games to be held in the SE corner of Queensland, supported by the Mayors of the regional councils in the SE.

Meanwhile the regions of Queensland outside of the SE Corner have been pleading for funding to build and rebuild the infrastructure needed to properly support our regions, their Industries and the people that work and live there and provide so many benefits to all of Queensland.

Roads, Rail, Water, Health, Education and most other services have been progressively removed from these regions and it’s time to spend any available funds on returning these and rebuilding our regions, not on making bids for or hosting a Olympic Games that is not guaranteed to bring benefits to any or all Queenslanders.

Let’s tell Premier Palaszczuk and her cabinet that their priorities are wrong and that they’re not listening to Queenslanders and they need to resource the regional and rural areas of Queensland and the families who live in them before she backs a vanity Sports event.

Fair go Premier, time to look after all of Queensland not just the SE Corner. The heart of Queensland is in the heart of Queensland, not the SE Corner.  Queensland does not end at The Sunshine Coast.
