Queensland government to stop closing schools for political grandstanding.

Queensland government to stop closing schools for political grandstanding.
Why this petition matters
The Queensland government has been closing schools and restricting education on marginal grounds for sole reason of being seen to do something.
Education is important!
Article 26 of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights states "Everyone has the right to education." The Queensland government is undermining that right to students in Queensland.
Allow individual schools to assess warnings on a case-by-case basis.
Do not use every storm warning, or similar event to close schools. In addition to the economic damage this causes to families who must leave work to facilitate this political grandstanding, children's education is being impacted. Additionally, these decisions are taking a toll on the mental health of children in their senior years as they are acutely aware of the negative impact to their education.
The standard of Queensland education is already considered to be below the national average, these closures will drive Queensland education further behind.
The undersigned demand that the Queensland Government Cease making wide sweeping decisions to close schools and allow individual schools and parents to assess the risk to our children.
