S R started this petition to The Hon Alex Hawke (MPMinister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs) and

Tonight on 9 news there was a segment about a 2year old toddler in Brisbane going to be ripped away from his foster mother, who he has been with since 4 days old and put up for adoption with no possibility of the foster carer applying to adopt. This is OUTRAGEOUS! there HAS to be some way around this for this poor little boy and his foster mother. He is also facing deportation due to the circumstances of his biological parents, having been here on student visa’s simply means the toddler, who no longer has any connections with his biological parents is considered to be on the same visa and is NOT eligible for a permanent visa. UNLESS the QLD government is willing to sponsor him for citizenship. The federal immigration minister Alex Hawke has said, quote; “if the state of Queensland choose to sponsor a child in a case such as this, I as minister would give this full and compassionate consideration”

There is also multiple studies on the negative effects of removing a child from there primary care giver in the first 6 years of life. This is quoted from Peter Haiman, Ph.D. - The child's development of an emotional attachment to a primary caregiver in the first six years of life is very important. A disturbance in this development can create problems in childhood, adolescence, and adult life. Behaviors fundamental to personal and interpersonal well-being are involved. Examples of these are: 1) the ability to create deep and enduring love relationships; 2) the strength to tolerate the imperfect satisfaction of personal needs; 3) the attitudes and desire to cooperate with others; and 4) the motivation to learn and work. The course of these processes is set in the early years of life by the quality of the attachment bond that is established then.

Seeing this tonight really upset me looking at my own son nearly 2 I really felt for this foster mother and her little boy maybe just maybe if we can all sign this petition we can get the government to sponsor him and also allow him to stay with his foster mother PERMANENTLY.
