David Sweeney started this petition to Queensland Government and

Gelball is a sport where toy style plastic guns are used to propel 7mm water filled gels at opponents, in a fun safe controlled manner.

currently players of all ages 13-90 year olds enjoy this sport, if these toys were to be licensed under state fire arm laws, 1000’s of players would no longer be able to participate.

The benefits of this sport being exercise, friendship, socially meeting new people and development of team sports and competition.

We would ask that due consideration of australians rights to enjoy themselves in a safe legal manner with toys not be curtailed by introducing a gun licence,

currently the carriage and movements of these toys in public are self policed by all members of the Gelball community, no geltoy has been used for any criminal offence in the past two years since the sport was started, there is no requirement or any individual action that would require licensing.

ADF veterans use this sport to cope with their ptsd as an exposure therapy to assist them in their recovery, this would be denied to them as they would be disallowed on mental health grounds to own these toys.

we would ask that all concerned politicians police or any member of the public visit organised games to ascertain the healthy aspect of this sport.

we as Gelball players reject the need for changing any laws regarding this sport, and wish to be allowed to continue to enjoy our pastime without undue licensing.
