"They will be shooting themselves in the foot if the actual externals are as wishy washy and unclear as the mock exam..."

Above is a quote from a current grade 12 teacher in Queensland and if teachers are complaining there must be an issue with current way the exams are written. Recently Queensland's current grade 12 students sat our mock external exams which were horrifically written and filled with confusing unclear questions. These exams were so terrible that even during my classes this past week I've heard all of my teachers complaining! 

You may think that this is just some bratty teenager complaining about having to do exams but please listen closely. Imagine spending 13 years (prep-12) of your life studying and for the first five years struggling because of a neurological condition and then once you beat that and start getting A's and B's in all your subjects for all it to be washed away by poorly written exams. This isn't just an exam for most students, it's a step towards their futures, goals and dreams. It is so sad to know that the majority of students who sat the mock exams before the school holidays did not pass or just got enough marks to pass. We haven't just been impacted by these atrociously written exams which also dramatically lower students confidence which can lead to mental health issues and high stress levels we have been impacted by Covid-19. I personally have had to increase my anxiety/anti-depressant medication twice due to the stress of year 12, the overwhelming amount of content we have to remember for these externals and i can personally tell you these mock exams have had a very negative impact on my stress levels and confidence. This doesn't just affect us as students but our amazing Teachers who have worked so hard to get us where we are now.
