Prioritize sustainable business practices by ending Coca-Cola’s exclusive selling rights
Why this petition matters
The existence of Queen’s University’s exclusivity contract with Coca-Cola promotes unsustainable and unethical business practices at an institutional level. Coca-Cola has multiple human rights allegations, including the mistreatment of workers in the global south and the murder of union leaders. It has also held the title of the world’s worst plastic polluter for three years in a row, as of 2020. By maintaining this contract, Queen’s University is supporting these practices, while also preventing the local economy from flourishing, as this exclusivity prevents small and local businesses from selling their products on campus.
As an individual, you have an intrinsic right to voice your opinion and stand up for what you believe in. Additionally, as a consumer, you have the responsibility of choosing which products you buy and which companies you support. By signing this petition, you are exercising these rights by taking a tangible action towards positive change and holding Queen’s to a standard that will contribute to the fight for social and climate justice on a global scale.
