My niece needed help and got an inappropriate, unhelpful, "solution". Medication is not always the answer. Misdiagnosis can lead to much worse realities.

Mental health support for students is a priority, it impacts all areas of life and we need to do more to help increase access when needed

Queen's definitely needs more resources for BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and other marginalized students, as well as counselors who can provide support for multiple groups at once. There is an especial dearth of the latter. For instance, as a person who is both queer and a person of colour, my identities and experiences do not exist independently from one another, and booking two separate counselors who each specialize in a separate area (as one Queen's counselor suggested to me) doesn't work for me when I wish to talk about issues pertaining to both of my identities at once.

I have yet to hear of a good experience with Queen's mental health services - this needs to change on behalf of every friend of mine who needed help asap and instead was left waiting for months

I’ve waited months for an appointment at Queen’s and been treated poorly by counselors and student accommodations advisors.

I shouldn’t have to wait for mental health services when I’m in crisis.

I had a really poor experience with mental health services offered by Queen’s. I was trying to get help at a very low point for me and was incredibly disappointed with the “help” I didn’t even end up receiving.
