Why this petition matters

Started by Emma COSMAO

The QMUL School of History class of 2020 has been affected by long term sustained strike action over the course of the degree. We have missed over a term of university teaching over the past three years.

As Historians, we do not require the breadth of facilities which QMUL has said are the reason we cannot be reimbursed. What we need is books (most of which have already been purchased by the university) and, most importantly, the expertise and experience of our professors (who have, for the most part, been unavailable in person or over email for one sixth of our degree).

With this in mind, it is clear that strike action has affected our university experience in a unique way, removing one of the two main resources which enable us to learn and grow.

This is not in any way condemning the professors who have chosen to strike: this is directed at the QMUL board, who refuse to recognise the particular situation we have been placed in.

We understand a full refund is not possible, but some monetary compensation is only fair and right.
