Install traffic calming measures on Googong Townships busiest streets.

Googong Township is a fast growing community on the NSW/ACT border near Queanbeyan. There is currently a problem with adherence to local street speed limits, particularly on the main thoroughfares of Beltana Avenue, Gorman Avenue and Caragh Avenue. Daily, cars and heavy vehicles are observed travelling at excessive speeds and ignoring speed limits including the school Zones. Googong’s urban planning of long straight streets  creates conditions that encourage poor driver behaviour. It is requested that Queanbeyan Palerang Regional Council and NSW Roads and Maritime Services investigate and implement traffic calming measures such as speed humps, signage or chicanes to reduce speeding, and make traffic calming/speed reduction a design requirement for future Googong development.
